Set in the quiet coastal suburb of Chelsea, this project pairs calm minimalism with natural luxury.
The feature ethanol fireplace acts as the centrepiece of the living space, anchoring the interior with balance, warmth, and subtle drama.
The Vision
The client came to Chama Design with their own detailed drawing for a custom fireplace feature, a minimalist focal point to complement their bayside home.
Our role was to review the design, confirm its technical viability, and provide clear guidance to ensure it met all product compliance and EcoSmart Fire installation requirements. This included verifying clearances, material suitability, and structural detailing to achieve both safety and precision.
Design Features
The installation features the Flex 42BY Bay Ethanol Fireplace, set within a custom-built satin white cabinet that offers both function and form. Waterfall stone returns visually ground the piece, giving the design a sense of balance and permanence.
Cladded in a Neolith Himalaya Crystal, the stone wraps seamlessly across the benchtop, sides, and faux chimney, creating a continuous visual line. The same material is echoed in the kitchen, tying the spaces together through material continuity.
The bay-window-style fireplace allows the flame to be enjoyed from multiple angles, creating a connection throughout the open-plan living area.
Soft textures, muted tones, and curved furnishings enhance the calm, while the gentle veining of the stone catches the light, subtly defining the home’s refined character.
Technical Excellence
The fireplace delivers impressive heating capability, comfortably warming spaces up to 50 m² with clean-burning bioethanol that produces a vibrant orange flame, without the need for flues, chimneys, smoke, or ash.
The design employs a combination of materials, including:
• 6 mm Neolith Himalaya Crystal Ultra Soft for a seamless finish
• Satin white MDF cabinet with practical storage
• Fire-rated construction for safety and compliance
• EcoSmart firebox in black satin finish
